Quality General

Quality General contracted Energy Industries to implement a hybrid renewable energy and energy efficiency program at their Halawa Valley facility.

The first phase of the Qualify General program involved retrofitting lighting with energy efficient options. In addition to the kWh savings, the lighting retrofit made the project eligible for cash rebates from Hawaiian Electric Company’s Demand Side Management program.

In the second phase of the program, Energy Industries installed 45 kW of photovoltaic panels using 230 Watt panels and a non-penetrating panel attachment system. Quality General also entered into a net energy metering agreement with the Hawaiian Electric Company, allowing them to feed any excess power generated into the electricity grid.

With the completion of the integrated energy efficiency and renewable energy project, Quality General is on track to save 85,500 kilowatt hours and $19,000 each year.
