Hawaiian Host

Hawaiian Host installed a hybrid energy efficiency and renewable energy system at two manufacturing facilities on Hawaii’s Big Island.

Hawaiian Host engaged Energy Industries to install two photovoltaic (PV) systems that generate a total of 200 kilowatts of renewable electricity from sunlight. In addition to reducing its carbon footprint, Hawaiian Host expects to reduce its annual electricity consumption by 340,000-kilowatt hours and save $95,000 each year on its electricity bills. Hawaiian Host entered into a net energy metering agreement with their local utility to feed any excess power generated by the PV systems into the electric grid.

Energy Industries designed and installed the PV systems as part of a hybrid energy program that combines energy efficiency with renewable energy. Prior to installing the PV systems, the candy maker reduced its energy consumption by retrofitting its interior lighting with efficient lighting technologies.
